Guest progress stays on that browser unless you create or sign in to an account. When you register, the browser sends the saved article IDs to your account so the progress can merge automatically.

WordPress stores account and Cookie Jar progress data for the site. If you separately select the optional newsletter checkbox, your email address and name are also sent to MailPoet for subscription confirmation and newsletter delivery.
